Horse First was founded in 2008 by Paddy Hughes, a respected Irish horse producer in the show jumping and eventing spheres. After thirty years in the business, Paddy found available equine supplements disappointing. He knew the market left a lot to be desired, so he set out to build something better. Alongside leading chemists and equine nutritionists, Paddy spent years researching and testing new formulations on his own horses. Only after perfecting these recipes - and receiving overwhelming feedback from world-class riders like Michael Whitaker, Ludger Beerbaum, Jessica Kürten, and William Fox-Pitt—was he confident enough to bring Horse First to market. It became the range "made by horse people, for horse people." Last year, Horse First reached a new milestone by joining the Equine America family. This acquisition has allowed us to take Paddy’s original high-inclusion philosophy to the next level. We have tweaked the already winning formulations to create a range of products which benefit from the latest advancements in equine nutritional science and world-class
manufacturing standards. While our roots remain in Paddy’s "real results" approach, our updated formulas ensure even greater efficacy, precision, and quality for the modern athlete.
